Cookie policy

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. It lets the site recognise the same browser on a later page or a later visit. Some are needed for a site to work at all; others are used to measure or advertise.

What this site actually sets

Very little. We use one cookie to keep the site secure, and a second only once you have told us your cookie preferences, so that we can remember them.

Strictly necessary — always on, cannot be turned off
NamePurposeExpires
_old_bridge_inn_session Protects forms against cross-site request forgery, and keeps you signed in if you are a member of staff using the portal. When you close your browser
cookie_consent Remembers the cookie choice you made here, so we do not ask again on every page. 6 months

Measuring how the site is used

We use no cookies for this. We count page views with our own software on our own servers, and nothing is stored on your device. Each visit is counted using a one-way code made from a shortened version of your IP address and the name of your browser. Nothing is sent to Google Analytics or any advertising network.

Because nothing is stored on your device, this does not legally require your consent. We let you turn it off anyway — choose Reject all or untick Statistics in cookie settings, and we stop counting your visits from that point on.

Marketing

We do not use marketing or advertising cookies. The category appears in our cookie settings so that the choice is already there if we ever add anything of that kind — and nothing would be set unless you turned it on first.

Cookies from other companies

Table bookings and enquiries are handled by Foodigram, the booking and staff system built for us by Beagle Software Limited. It runs as part of this website rather than as an embedded widget from a third party, so it sets no additional cookies of its own.

Some pages link out to Google Maps, Facebook, Instagram and X. Following those links takes you to their sites, where their own cookie policies apply. We do not embed their tracking on our pages.

Changing your mind

Use the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page at any time. You can also clear cookies through your browser settings, which will remove your saved preference and we will ask again.

We use cookies

We use one cookie to keep the site secure. We measure how the site is used without storing anything on your device. Read our cookie policy or privacy notice.

Necessary Always on

Keeps the site secure and remembers this choice. The site cannot work without it.

Counts which pages are visited so we know what is useful. Uses no cookies and stores nothing on your device. Turn it off and we stop counting your visits.

We do not currently use any marketing or advertising cookies. If that ever changes, they will only be set if you turn this on.
