Legal
Your data rights
Last updated 17 September 2026
UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 give you rights over the information we hold about you. This page explains what those rights are and exactly how to use them. You will never be charged for asking, and asking will never affect the service you get from us.
What you can ask for
A copy of what we hold
Ask and we will send you everything we hold about you — usually any enquiries you have sent, any table bookings, and whether you are on the newsletter list. We will reply within one month.
Correction
If something is wrong — a misspelt name, an old phone number — tell us and we will fix it.
Deletion
You can ask us to delete what we hold. We will, unless we are legally required to keep something, in which case we will tell you what and why.
Stopping marketing
Every newsletter has a one-click unsubscribe link, which takes effect immediately. You can also just ask us.
Objecting to how we use it
Where we rely on legitimate interests — measuring how the website is used, for example — you can object. For website measurement you can act on this yourself straight away: choose Reject all in Cookie settings at the bottom of any page and we stop counting your visits.
Restricting use
You can ask us to keep your data but stop using it while a complaint or correction is being sorted out.
Taking it elsewhere
You can ask for your data in a portable format so you can pass it to someone else.
How to ask
Email [email protected] or call 01422 822595. Please say which right you want to use and enough detail for us to find your records — the email address or phone number you used, and roughly when.
We may ask you to confirm who you are before we send personal information out, so that we are not handing your details to somebody else.
How long we keep things
| What | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Enquiries sent through the contact form | While being dealt with, then deleted 12 months after being marked resolved |
| Newsletter subscription | Until you unsubscribe |
| Website measurement data | 12 months, then deleted automatically |
| Your cookie preference | 6 months, then we ask again |
Keeping your data safe
The site is served over an encrypted connection. Enquiries and bookings can only be read by our own staff, through a portal that requires a password and a two-factor code, and every account can be disabled immediately if a phone is lost. Passwords are stored hashed, never in readable form.
If something goes wrong
If a breach happens and it is likely to put your rights at risk, we will tell the Information Commissioner's Office within 72 hours of becoming aware, and tell you directly if the risk to you is high.
If you are unhappy with us
Please tell us first — most things are quickest to fix directly. If you are still not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. You can complain to them without coming to us first.
